Company
Albert Heijn is the oldest organization owned and operated by the Dutch supermarket operator Ahold. The stores are full service markets (as opposed to discounters), known for their focus on quality stores and products. Albert Heijn’s market share is currently around 30%.
Challenge
Albert Heijn constantly is experimenting with new store concepts. In the competition with low-price stores they made a new concept store with several new technical elements.
Solution
Designing processes and implementing Dynamic Instore Media elements like large TV screens and LED panels.
Challenge
The distribution and sale of physical telephone cards was a costly affair. There were many risks of theft in the entire chain from production to issuing.
Solution
To reduce these risks and costs, a new process has been designed and realized. The information needed to top up a telephone card was electronically retrieved and printed on the receipt. As a result, the costs for transportation and security were reduced to a minimum. It was called the Virtual Distribution Centre.
